Welcome to the Year 5/6 pages
The question we will be trying to answer in our History topic in Summer 2017 is 'Who was Henry VIII?' We will be looking at our British History and how Monarchs in the Tudor Times have shaped the history of our country. We will be reading 'My Friend Walter' by Michael Morpugo whose main character is from the Tudor Times
This term's Geography Unit is called 'Why is fair trade fair?'. Following on from what we learnt in Chocolate WOW week we will be looking at Fair Trade and where this is most relevant around the world. In Science this term we will be focussing on electricity for the Year 6s and life cycles of different creatures for the Year 5s.
In R.E. we will be looking at 'Why do people of faith make pilgrimage?'. We will investigate 3 different faiths: Christianity, Islam and Hindu. Alongside the faith aspects of these lessons we will be looking at the big questions that arise in society.
In P.E we will be learning how be a team player whilst learning how to play the games of cricket. We will also we exploring some theory of P.E including how the body works during exercise and how diet can affect sports men/women.
The Year 5s will continue to have trumpet lessons provided by MAPAS and the Year 6s will continue to use the Charanga Scheme.
Our class governor is Mr Ian Bennett-Brown and we look forward to communicating with him via email and school visits.
